Wikipedia defines Insomnia or sleeplessness as a sleep disorder in which there is an inability to fall asleep or to stay asleep as long as desired. “Do you experience difficulty sleeping?” or “Do you have difficulty falling or staying asleep?”
Insomnia is typically followed by functional impairment while awake. Insomnia can occur at any age, but it is particularly common in the elderly. Insomnia can be short term (up to three weeks) or long term (above 3–4 weeks), which can lead to memory problems, depression, irritability, an increased risk of heart disease, and automobile related accidents.
Insomnia as you can see or if you experience it for long periods of time, know that the above is true and can be very dangerous. I know for me at points in my life where I have not gotten enough sleep, that groggy, edgy, listless feeling kept me from being all that I could be, and doing all that I needed to do. This was a problem for me and those around me. I was not able to give them the time and quality of attention they may have needed at the time. I would feel shaky, and just totally exhausted!
Hypnotherapy can help with and or overcome issues of insomnia, whether it is having problems falling asleep at night, inability to sleep throughout the night, irregular sleep patterns, or have a good quality sleep. We all live very busy lives, we all experience stress, tension, anxiety in our lives. It is when it all starts to affect us physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually, is when insomnia, sleepless nights begin to affect every area of our lives.

Hypnotherapy is a very relaxing way to overcome problems, key is to release the root cause, and as long as you are able to do that, there is no need for these problems to continue in most cases. Starting with the number 10, close your eyes, take in a nice long easy deep breath in, balloon your stomach up, hold it 2, 3, or 4 seconds and exhale slowly, on the exhale say something really nice to yourself, 9 repeat, this time start to focus on your body relaxing, 8 repeat, stretching out every part of your body, 7 continue repeating this breathing pattern all the way down to 1, each time relaxing more and more.
This is also a technique you can use to build confidence or help you visualize and relax at the same time. Always on the exhale, you want to say something nice to yourself, or visualize an activity that you would like to do such as improving your golf game, see and feel yourself there, completing the actions exactly as you want them completed. This is an example of self hypnosis.
